Composite sandwich-panels consist of low-density core and two relatively thin skin layers (for instance, glass fabric or carbon fabric), which helps to produce very stiff, strong and very light constructions at the same time. AIREX® core foams are impregnated with resin only in thin surface layers, which have direct contact with skin layers. General core volume of a panel remains light.
Overall sandwich production process is similar to convenient composite processes. It can be vacuum infusion, hand lamination, RTM, prepregs and other processes. There is optimal foam core sheet finishing option fore each process, such as perforation and cuts for vacuum infusion technology.
AIREX® product range combines different types of foams to meet the goals of every task.
— PET foams – recycable foams with the best-in-class fatigue properties, very high chemical resistance and thermally stable with no outgassing, compatible with all resin types and processing methods.
- AIREX® Т92 – easy processing structural foam for wide range of applications.
- AIREX® Т90 – fire resistant structural foam, which fulfills high FST (fire, smoke, toxicity) requirements.
- AIREX® Т10 – industrialised structural foam core with very homogeneous cell structure, high mechanical properties and outstanding price/performance ratio.
— PVC-foam
- AIREX® С70 – universal structural foam with very high strength and stiffness to weight ratio, good impact strength and chemical resistance.
— Special foams
- AIREX® R63 – damage tolerant foam with extremely high impact strength and exceptionally high skin adhesion.
- AIREX® R82 – high performance structural foam with extremely high operation temperature range including cryogenic temperatures, excellent dielectric properties, which fulfills the most stringent fire requirements.
* — L-low density, M-medium density, H-high density, VH-very high density
